Empowerment is a very crucial trait/feature of human beings, when mastered, it becomes your strongest character. Same way, Self-Empowerment1 makes us courageous, and self-sufficient, by allowing us to take control of our lives and set the foundation of the future the way we want.
” You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will” – Stephen King
Self-Empowerment allows people to let go of their self-doubts, dependence on others (unless it’s inevitable), and disability to make their own decisions in life, and help get rid of their weaknesses by identifying them. It helps you to stand against the push-over people who always encroached on your decision-making.
People who aren’t self-empowered lack self-confidence, hence allowing others to make decisions on their behalf. They don’t have any control over their life. That’s where self-empowerment helps – Self-empowerment boosts your self-esteem2, makes you aware of your true potential, and helps set up clear goals, as a result providing full control of your life.
1. How to Develop Self-Empowerment?
You can only inspire or empower people around – as our decisions don’t just impact us, only if your individual life is in your control. And you can do it in some definitive way.
1.1. Re-Discover the New You
Keep your strengths close but your weaknesses even closer, so you can identify the root cause and eliminate them. Make your strong points stronger which will boost your self-esteem and help you deal with your inhibitions.
Draw out to which extent your decision-making is affected by external forces and in which parts of your life. Then start working on them one by one, starting with developing a positive mindset3 ‘You Can Do Anything’.
You can get the help of experts or counselors for better overall self-assessment to begin with.
1.2. Focus on Your Goals
Establish where you see yourself in a long time, in various areas of your life – financially, emotionally, in a relationship, in the workplace, etc. Personal goals set the pace of your life, and gear up your brain in the right frame to bring them to life which ultimately makes you feel self-empowered.
1.3. Enhance Your Knowledge and Understanding
Choose the area you want to focus on first. For example – if you want to be financially independent – if you haven’t started working yet, then first, gauze the job market, then choose the work profile of your choice and skill yourself in it.
After you get the job keep working on the skill-building to rise high up and get promotions. Or, if you are having a relationship problem, don’t lose communication with your partner. Try to understand the cause of the conflict.
1.4. Self-Awareness
It makes you aware of the situation you are in before taking any kind of action, enabling you to make the right decision. Self-awareness makes you aware of your past mistakes hence stopping you from repeating them.
Self-awareness keeps you in tune with your thoughts, it stops negative thoughts from intruding into your head. Self-awareness also helps you realize your limitations and self-empowered people don’t hesitate to seek help.
1.5. Be Resilient
Don’t let your self-esteem down if you fall a few times first while chasing your goals4. Self-empowerment is gained slowly but persistently and by moving forward.
1.6. Evaluate Yourself
Keep track of your progress, even a little bit of change will motivate you to keep going. Also, take into account how your actions are affecting people around you, if there is no animosity, it means you’re on the right path.
2. Where Do You Practice Self-Empowerment?
2.1. At the workplace
Success is different for everyone, some try to attain it by any means possible – that’s life.
Your career objectives are your own, so choose it to do the way it will give you satisfaction. Don’t stress out to attain those goals nor try to do everything to do in one go. Success comes to those who have patience.
Pay attention silently but stay docile. Put your ideas forward or discuss them with the right person. Proper communication is a crucial part of teamwork. Choose people in your team who strengthen your weak side and help each other and vice-versa.
2.2. In Relationship
Self-empowerment doesn’t mean making life better for yourself only, it means being confident and aware enough to guide people around you in the right direction. Help them achieve what you have so far.

This could be any situation such as when your company acquires a very rich and influential client, you sometimes overlook the finer details of their policies. It can come to bite you later. This way you unknowingly gave them leverage over you.
Another example could be when someone close to you is seriously ill, you become overly emotional, and this clouds your judgment to make the right decision. Self-empowerment helps you hone your decision-making skills in such situations.
2.6. In Difficult Situations

Here are some of them:

3.2. Prepare Yourself
“Everything that you are going through is preparing you for what you’ve asked for.” – Unknown
Whatever phase you are in of your life – good or bad, you have set the stone for it a long time ago when you set up your goals. So, even if the journey sometimes gets tough, focus on your goal, and the result, and feel self-empowerment when you will reach there.
